Following this, the authors focus on factors that may lead to problematic gaming and the theories/frameworks that explain such behavior, ways to mediate excessive game play, and summarize the risks and benefits of video game play. This compilation also explores how different responses to emotional distress may increase risk for addictive behaviors. Research suggests that individuals may engage in risky or addictive behaviors such as drinking, drug use, and bulimia as a way to ameliorate feelings of emotional distress. In the closing study, an analysis of five qualifying works of a psychiatrist on the subject of organizational and methodological component is carried out, with the goal of demonstrating that the participation of the psychiatrist in continuing medical education is an organizational advantage.

Advances In Social Psychology Research

by John Z. Arlsdale, Advances In Social Psychology Research Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download Advances In Social Psychology Research book, Social psychology is the science that studies individual beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours in settings where other people are present (or merely implied or imagined -- which makes the definition pretty broad). Notice the focus is quite different from sociology, where groups of people are studied, but closer to psychology, where individuals are studied. The focus of social psychology is the individual within the group. As such, it is an ideal venue for studying those forces that change humans -- their beliefs, their attitudes, and their behaviours.

Advances In Psychology Research Volume 141

by Alexandra M. Columbus, Advances In Psychology Research Volume 141 Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download Advances In Psychology Research Volume 141 book, Advances in Psychology Research. Volume 141 first summarizes the literature on social cognition and its neural correlates in children and adults with ADHD, focusing on emotion recognition, theory of mind, empathy, moral cognition and social decision-making.Following this, the authors explore the environmental/chemical-associated peripheral blood gene expression profiling of autism spectrum disorder, providing an explanation for the molecular mechanisms of environmental chemicals on autism spectrum disorder.A quantitative study is conducted to provide empirical evidence of the relationship between altruistic leader behavior and innovation success, using radical innovation as an explanatory variable. In addition, this compilation aims to validate a scale designed to measure authentic moral pride for children aged 10-16. Participants also completed an adaptation of the Empathy Index for Children and Adolescents. The authors go on to analyze three-year productivity data (2014-2016) from clinical psychologists assigned to U.S. Army behavioral health clinics to examine patient care productivity standards. A simple computational model compares standards from the Department of the Army, the Veterans Health Administration, and the Defense Health Agency. The influence of psychosocial and clinical factors, as well as insight, on attitude and adherence to medication in patients with psychosis is explored through a clinical case study. The services available for support and employment opportunities for individuals with serious mental illness are reviewed. Serious mental illness is defined as a diagnosable mental health disorder that "leads to serious functional impairment, which substantially interferes with or limits one or more major life activities".The closing study examines the main characteristics of a male Italian child molester, aged 50 years old, through a semi-structured interview based on the central child molester theories and possible intervention strategies

Chapter Two explains how mental disorders impact executive functioning, and how future therapies can focus on eliminating this dysfunction in mental disorders. Chapter Three examines some of the factors that contribute to women's perceptions of sexual harassment, including their decisions about whether to report such harassment, which remains one of the least reported social problems. Chapter Four concerns the impact of elevated lipid levels on executive function and sustained attention. Chapter Five explores the question of whether elevated use of social networking sites leads to problems like depression. Finally, Chapter Six deals with the development of body image in young adults, including factors like the quality of one's relationship with one's body, the influence of other people on body image, and mass media as conveyors of beauty ideals.
