The Well Adjusted Child

by Rachel Gathercole, The Well Adjusted Child Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download The Well Adjusted Child book, Socialization may well be the single most important aspect of education today. With high and rising rates of divorce, drug abuse, youth violence, alcoholism, teen promiscuity, and so forth, we cannot afford to let this issue go unexamined. To cling to the idea that what we, as a culture, are doing now is the right and best way for all children, simply because it is what we are used to, is to shut our eyes and minds to other possibilities--possibilities that may well afford greater happiness, success, peace, and safety to our own children. At a time when people feel more disconnected than ever before, we cannot afford to overlook an option which offers our youth great benefits--including the rich, fulfilling, and healthy social life they may well need for the future. Homeschooling offers great social benefits to kids and parents. When we understand them, our children are the ones who will win.

Instructional Practices

by D. L. Forrest-Pressley, Instructional Practices Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download Instructional Practices book, Metacognition, Cognition, and Human Performance, Volume 2: Instructional Practices is a collection of papers that deals with applied settings that develop and test instructional programs in the field of education. The book discusses some insights in understanding the processes involved in writing and reading. The text defines metacognition — as a mental function and the directing of this function — and reading, as well as the structure of narratives. One paper proposes a model for cognitive monitoring and early reading by developing for children three knowledge domains: function of print, form of print, and conventions of print or metacognitive constructs. Other papers analyze metacognition, instruction, the role of questioning activities, as well as the connection between metacognition and learning disabilities. One author evaluates a different perspective whether attention-related difficulties are a normal development in a young child or a disability in the older child. This author also explains meta-attention pertaining to task solving, selective attention to other stimuli, and visual search of the surrounding or for a target object. One research shows that methodologies designed to induce underachieving children to regulate their own academic behavior can improve their performance. The text can prove useful to child psychologists, behavioral scientists, and students and professors in child education.

The Well Adjusted Dog

by Daniel Kamen, The Well Adjusted Dog Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download The Well Adjusted Dog book, Chiropractors and their human patients already know the health benefits of relieving spinal nerve pressure. Dog owners and trainers who are fortunate enough to find a trained animal chiropractor also know of these benefits. But that's the problem--finding a practitioner in your area. Very few veterinarians offer chiropractic services since they are too busy with medical emergencies. And most of the licensed human chiropractors, who became certified in animal chiropractic, are prohibited or severely limited by law to adjust animals in their state. "The Well Adjusted Dog: Canine Chiropractic Methods You Can Do" will give dog owners insight on how a lot of the adjustments are performed and what to expect when they take their dog to an animal chiropractor--if they can find one. For those who want to adjust their own dogs, the author provides step-by-step instructions with over 90 illustrations. However, Dr. Kamen strongly advises first consulting with a licensed veterinarian for a proper evaluation and to rule out any possible contraindications to adjusting. About the Author Dr. Daniel Kamen was born in Chicago, Illinois and has been practicing chiropractic since 1981. His father is a highly respected anesthesiologist; his mother, a gifted artist. Dr. Kamen's original animal chiropractic organization, "Animal Crackers," produced animal chiropractic educational materials, which taught others how to adjust dogs and horses. Dr. Kamen lives with his wife, Sharon, of thirty-four years. Together they have three sons, Jeffrey, Gary and Kevin. He makes his home in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. Dr. Kamen has been featured in many TV, radio, and newspaper stories concerning his work with animal chiropractic. He currently is on tour, teaching a professional as well as a lay lecture seminar on animal chiropractic (horse and dog adjusting). His hobbies include playing the piano and chess (master level). Books by Daniel Kamen include: "The Well Adjusted Dog, The Well Adjusted Horse, The Well Adjusted Cat" and a novel entitled "Stagecoach Road: The Bullies Must Die."
