by Patti M. Valkenburg, Plugged In Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download Plugged In book, An illuminating study of the complex relationship between children and media in the digital age Now, as never before, young people are surrounded by media—thanks to the sophistication and portability of the technology that puts it literally in the palms of their hands. Drawing on data and empirical research that cross many fields and continents, authors Valkenburg and Piotrowski examine the role of media in the lives of children from birth through adolescence, addressing the complex issues of how media affect the young and what adults can do to encourage responsible use in an age of selfies, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. This important study looks at both the sunny and the dark side of media use by today’s youth, including why and how their preferences change throughout childhood, whether digital gaming is harmful or helpful, the effects of placing tablets and smartphones in the hands of toddlers, the susceptibility of young people to online advertising, the legitimacy of parental concerns about media multitasking, and more.

The Plugged In Manager

by Terri L Griffith, The Plugged In Manager Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download The Plugged In Manager book, A game-changing approach to management Too often discussions of management practice focus exclusively on managing people and organizational issues. Rarely, however, do they incorporate a discussion about technology or address all three dimensions in a balanced way. When they do, the result is game changing. In our hypercompetitive environment, those managers who are outstanding at being plugged into their people, technology, and organizational processes simultaneously excel at coming up with effective business solutions. The Plugged-In Manager makes the case that being plugged-in—the ability to see choices across each of an organization's dimensions of people, technology, and organizational processes and then to mix them together into new and powerful organizational strategies, structures, and practices—may be the most important capability a manager can develop to succeed in the 21st century. Step by step Griffith shows you how to acquire this ability. Shows what it takes for business managers to succeed as technology and organizations become more and more complex Profiles exceptional leaders and organizations who are plugged-in, such as Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.com Offers a fresh look at management issues Filled with compelling case studies and drawing on first-hand interviews, The Plugged-In Manager highlights this often neglected managerial capability and the costs of only focusing on one dimension rather than all three.

Plug In Vehicles Plugged In Policy

by Great Britain: Parliament: House of Commons: Transport Committee, Plug In Vehicles Plugged In Policy Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download Plug In Vehicles Plugged In Policy book, Consumer demand for plug-in vehicles remains very low and the Government grant to encourage demand may not be proving effective. The Government must do more to show that its plug-in vehicle strategy is a good use of public money. Carbon emissions from transport must be reduced if the UK is to meet its climate change targets, but public money must be targeted on effective policies. So far, Department for Transport expenditure on plug-in cars - some £11 million - has benefited just a handful of motorists. There is a risk that the Government is basically subsidising second cars for affluent households. It is also unclear whether the provision of public charging infrastructure encourages demand for plug-in cars. Indeed, the Government does not even have a register of all the chargepoints installed at public expense

by Bob Waliszewski, Plugged In Parenting Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download Plugged In Parenting book, Plugged-In Parenting comes at a time when parents find themselves between a rock and a hard place. They want to protect their children from the increasingly violent and sexualized content of movies, TV, the Internet, and music as well as cyberbullying and obsessive cell phone texting. But they fear that simply “laying down the law” will alienate their kids. Can parents stay connected to the media while staying connected to God and to each other? This book makes a powerful case for teaching kids media discernment, but doesn’t stop there. It shows how to use teachable moments, evidence from research and pop culture, Scripture, questions, parental example, and a written family entertainment constitution to uphold biblical standards without damaging the parent-child relationship.

Plugged In To The Dynamic Word

by Larry Grabill, Plugged In To The Dynamic Word Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download Plugged In To The Dynamic Word book, We know that the Word of God is living and powerful, with the potential to dramatically impact the heart for God. The passages of the Bible enlighten and enliven us, but most of us have a limited view of how the parts of the Word relate to each other. What if we could have a comprehensive grasp of the whole of Scripture, so that we could see the big picture? What if we could see the whole illuminated by the truths that bind the parts as one book? Plugged-in to the Dynamic Word familiarizes us with the thought form and allows us to see the parts of the Bible as a united message. In this experience, we can subject our hearts to the collective impact of the Word, be more in touch with Gods basic thoughts, and draw closer to the heart of God. A builder could introduce the parts of a house to a totally uninformed person, who could admire the straightness of the stud, the massiveness of the floor joist, the structure of the truss rafter, and so on. But only when he sees that each part is intended to connect to the other parts to form a house can he fully appreciate their value and joyfully look forward to having a home from the parts he originally admired. Plugged-in to the Dynamic Word shows the orderly connectivity of the parts of the Bible to portray a whole spiritual house of Gods truth and grace housing His people. http://youtu.be/Ih5UBq-l74g

Plug In Electric Vehicles In Smart Grids

by Sumedha Rajakaruna, Plug In Electric Vehicles In Smart Grids Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download Plug In Electric Vehicles In Smart Grids book, This book covers the recent research advancements in the area of charging strategies that can be employed to accommodate the anticipated high deployment of Plug-in Electric Vehicles (PEVs) in smart grids. Recent literature has focused on various potential issues of uncoordinated charging of PEVs and methods of overcoming such challenges. After an introduction to charging coordination paradigms of PEVs, this book will present various ways the coordinated control can be accomplished. These innovative approaches include hierarchical coordinated control, model predictive control, optimal control strategies to minimize load variance, smart PEV load management based on load forecasting, integrating renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic arrays to supplement grid power, using wireless communication networks to coordinate the charging load of a smart grid and using market price of electricity and customers payment to coordinate the charging load. Hence, this book proposes many new strategies proposed recently by the researchers around the world to address the issues related to coordination of charging load of PEVs in a future smart grid.
