Biostatistics For Radiologists

by Francesco Sardanelli, Biostatistics For Radiologists Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download Biostatistics For Radiologists book, The aim of this book is to present statistical problems and methods in a friendly way to radiologists, emphasizing statistical issues and methods most frequently used in radiological studies (e.g., nonparametric tests, analysis of intra- and interobserver reproducibility, comparison of sensitivity and specificity among different imaging modality, difference between clinical and screening application of diagnostic tests, ect.). The tests will be presented starting from a radiological "problem" and all examples of statistical methods applications will be "radiological".

Bayesian Biostatistics And Diagnostic Medicine

by Lyle D. Broemeling, Bayesian Biostatistics And Diagnostic Medicine Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download Bayesian Biostatistics And Diagnostic Medicine book, There are numerous advantages to using Bayesian methods in diagnostic medicine, which is why they are employed more and more today in clinical studies. Exploring Bayesian statistics at an introductory level, Bayesian Biostatistics and Diagnostic Medicine illustrates how to apply these methods to solve important problems in medicine and biology. After focusing on the wide range of areas where diagnostic medicine is used, the book introduces Bayesian statistics and the estimation of accuracy by sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values for ordinal and continuous diagnostic measurements. The author then discusses patient covariate information and the statistical methods for estimating the agreement among observers. The book also explains the protocol review process for cancer clinical trials, how tumor responses are categorized, how to use WHO and RECIST criteria, and how Bayesian sequential methods are employed to monitor trials and estimate sample sizes. With many tables and figures, this book enables readers to conduct a Bayesian analysis for a large variety of interesting and practical biomedical problems.

Download Biostatistics For Medical And Biomedical Practitioners book, Biostatistics for Practitioners: An Interpretative Guide for Medicine and Biology deals with several aspects of statistics that are indispensable for researchers and students across the biomedical sciences. The book features a step-by-step approach, focusing on standard statistical tests, as well as discussions of the most common errors. The book is based on the author’s 40+ years of teaching statistics to medical fellows and biomedical researchers across a wide range of fields. Discusses how to use the standard statistical tests in the biomedical field, as well as how to make statistical inferences (t test, ANOVA, regression etc.) Includes non-standards tests, including equivalence or non-inferiority testing, extreme value statistics, cross-over tests, and simple time series procedures such as the runs test and Cusums Introduces procedures such as multiple regression, Poisson regression, meta-analysis and resampling statistics, and provides references for further studies

Research Methods In Radiology

by Andrea S. Doria, Research Methods In Radiology Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download Research Methods In Radiology book, Research Methods in Radiology provides concise, practical insights on how to design clinical and experimental studies in diagnostic imaging. This unique resource encompasses contributions from leaders in academic radiology as well as top epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and librarians with vast multidisciplinary and radiology research experience. The material reflects years of expertise teaching core biostatistics in radiology principles to residents, fellows, radiologists, and epidemiologists. Given the vast amount of published information on research methodology and statistics in radiology, the authors' goal was to write a high-yield review and study tool rather than a comprehensive book. Key topics are succinctly addressed in each chapter, including measurements in radiology; decision analysis in radiology; and systemic reviews, evidence-based imaging, and knowledge translation. Online exercises related to each topic enable residents to prepare for radiology board examinations and research radiologists to apply knowledge to clinical studies. Key Highlights Introductory chapters on analysis of diagnostic tests, linear and logistic regression, meta-analysis, statistical inference, and economic evaluation provide easy-to-follow tutorials Each chapter includes learning objectives, basic concepts, supplementary tables, and ancillary online material Case studies with images, graphs, and tables highlight primary "take home" points Sample size calculations are illustrated for a wide range of research questions Code is included for use in R, free open-source software for statistical analysis This book is an indispensable review of research methodology for radiology students and residents. Practicing clinicians will also benefit from this precisely focused reference tool on clinical and experimental research.

Errors In Radiology

by Luigia Romano, Errors In Radiology Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download Errors In Radiology book, Diagnostic errors are important in all branches of medicine because they are an indication of poor patient care. As the number of malpractice cases continues to grow, radiologists will become increasingly involved in litigation. The aetiology of radiological error is multi-factorial. This book focuses on (1) some medico-legal aspects inherent to radiology (radiation exposure related to imaging procedures and malpractice issues related to contrast media administration are discussed in detail) and on (2) the spectrum of diagnostic errors in radiology. Communication issues between the radiologists and physicians and between the radiologists and patients are also presented. Every radiologist should understand the sources of error in diagnostic radiology as well as the elements of negligence that form the basis of malpractice litigation.

Information Processing In Medical Imaging

by Jerry L. Prince, Information Processing In Medical Imaging Books available in Docs, PDF, EPUB, Mobi, Textbook, Kindle Format. Download Information Processing In Medical Imaging book, The21stInternationalConferenceonInformationProcessinginMedicalImaging(IPMI) washeldJuly5–10,2009at theCollegeofWilliam andMaryin Williamsburg,Virginia, USA. The conference was the latest in a series of biennial scienti?c meetings, the last being held in July of 2007 in the south of The Netherlands, during which new dev- opments in the acquisition, analysis, and use of medical images were presented. IPMI is one of the longest running conferences devoted to these topics in medical imaging. The ?rst IPMI conference was held in 1969, when a group of young scientists working in nuclear medicine gathered to discuss the current problems in their ?eld. Since that time the conference has expanded into other medical imaging acquisition modalities, including ultrasound, optics, magnetic resonance, and x-ray imaging techniques. IPMI is now widely recognized as one of the most exciting and in?uential meetings in m- ical imaging, with a unique emphasis on active participation from all attendees and a strong commitment to vigorous discussion and open debate. A wide variety of topics are covered at IPMI meetings, all within a single-track f- mat. This year 150 full-length manuscripts were submitted to the conference. Of these, 26 papers were selected for oral presentation and 33 were accepted as posters. Subm- sions were carefully reviewed by at least three members of the Scienti?c Review C- mittee, who evaluated the novelty, methodological development, and scienti?c rigor of each manuscript. A Paper Selection Committee, comprising the conference co-chairs and three senior investigators, took on the dif?cult task of creating a meeting program.
